Info :: Ferjo

Ferjo creates a kind of magic in his paintings. In some ways this magic is overdetermined, calculated, fraught with unchecked desire. Yet through these magical compositions one may get the sense of another world determined by the artist's magic - a world of irrational occurrences where objects float above the floor, where walls disappear, where translucent bubbles are suspended in space, where the laws of perspective and scale are utterly defied.

Info :: Gregory Kirschenbaum

Kirschenbaum has had a life long love affair with art and music. His many years among the artists of SoHo, NYC, offered many opportunities for experimentation with different media, and a rich connection to the international art community. He was initially inspired largely by his experiences of connection with people on the streets of New York, feeling drawn to some of the most basic processes and elements of earth and life that were also visibly evident all around him in the city.

Kirschenbaum became frustrated when he could not achieve his desired result in acrylics and turned to other materials. After much experimentation with materials and techniques he achieved his unique aesthetic, using real forms of zinc, copper, iron and gold. With the addition of other carefully studied solutions he was able to initiate the natural processes of oxidization that occur at the meeting of metal, air, and water. All on canvas.

Info :: Robert Hickox

Born in Florida and raised in New Mexico, Robért Hickox is an extraordinary artist who has been studying his craft since childhood. "Painting has always been his favorite subject. He was my best student. Probably, one of the best students I ever had." - Marve Newton.
Robért Hickox demonstrates a masterful command of diverse visual media His technique provides subtle lush hues across the canvas. There is scrupulous dexterity in the levity of the forms in his subjects, along with a deep richness in the colors themselves. The shades inherent in his compositions allow the viewer?s eye to glide across the surface of the work, satisfying visually and leaving one with a wondrous optical treat.
Katherina Perry Inc. is proud to present this talented artist. His paintings can be found in many private and public collections.
Artist statement - Artwork is a creation of emotion and passion. That's how I paint; it's the only way I know to paint. Reaching deep with in the heart and soul to draw upon a full palette of emotions, then bringing it forth into a physical, visual form for others to experience. This is what artwork is all about to me. Artwork is medicine for the soul. It makes us feel many different ways through movement, textures, and colors. I've been working on a new style of art, I call it Dimensional Cubism, where pure movement transform into an image at the crossroads of abstract and reality.
Life is similar to a painting. We begin our lives with a blank canvas. Throughout our lifetime we continuously add colors and texture creating a picture for everyone to see. When our stay is done we sign our work, thus leaving a mark on the lives we've touched.

Info :: Hei Feng

Hei Feng started painting when he was merely 5 years old, as a student of the Classical Chinese Style. He soon began to infuse his own signature into his works. The artistic community first took note in 1985 during an exhibit in Beijing. The "Black Wind (Hei Feng) Style", with its successful fusion of Eastern and Western ideas, caused quite a stir. The exhibit became the debut of the first enfant terrible in China.

After a successful beginning of a promising career in China, Hei Feng took part in the pro-democracy movement in 1989. After being wounded by a bullet in Tiananmen square, and eluding the police and the military, Hei Feng found freedom in America by way of Hong Kong.

"Art is, first and foremost, a spiritual experience, both for the artist and his audience. When it reaches its summit in its maturity, it is no longer Eastern or Western. The best term for it is spiritual aestheticism. It is about technique. It is about style. But above all, it is about spirituality and vision."

Info :: Aisenstat

For the past several years, Aisenstat has developed a style of paintings in which color takes a leading role.  Reds, blues, yellows, mixed with segmented forms, outlined in black and white.  The colors literally vibrate from the surface.  Her brilliant canvases offer a sense of fierce exuberance, a vibrant and persistent reservoir of inner-feeling. Aisenstat is more interested in the expressive and decorative aspects of painting.  These concerns were also important for the French painter Henri Matisse and, specifically, for the Romanian artist Marcel Janco (with whom Aisenstat studied).

Info :: Harry Guttman

The inheritor of a rich pre-war artistic legacy, born in Bucharest in 1933. A quote by the noted French art critic Marc LeMoigne states "Guttman's paintings have a celestial cleanness and finess". Upon extensive examination of his work, one begins to understand how true and [profound that statement really is. The ability to integrate color, form, and subject matter result in the creation of painings rich in this sence of 'celestial cleanness'.

Info :: Ohana

Avri Ohana Born in Casablanca, Morocco in 1939, Avri Ohana emigrated to Israel at the age of thirteen. Kibbutz educated, he later went on to study painting and sculpture in Israel's major art schools under such prominent artists as European Dadaist, Marcel Janco, and the Director of the Bezalel Art School in Jerusalem, Dan Hoffner. Ohana also attended the Oranim Art School and culminated his formal studies with a teaching certificate in art from the Ministry of Education in Tel Aviv. He then taught art in Israel and spent six months in Paris working under Jacob Agam before moving to the United States. Ohana has done set design for the Haifa Theater in Israel and the Grand Opera in San Francisco, graphic design for ABC Television, and operated and taught his own art school in San Bernardino, California. He is a member of the Ein Hod Artists' Village in Israel, and has participated in one-man and group shows in major cities in Israel, Europe and the United States. Ohana's works are virtual wonderlands of rich, ripe, multicolored "prime" paintings that consist of paintings-within-paintings. Vistas open up within vistas, while deceptively simple interiors disclose a multitude of other subjects. There is a strong sense of nature in Ohana's works and an expression of freshness, open spaces, and far horizons of the outdoors. His works are an orchestration of the old with the new, the primitive with the sophisticated, and the ordinary with the fantastic. They are treats for the eye, the senses, and the imagination and will take you to places you will want to visit again and again. Avri Ohana's work draws its subject matter from his love of nature and the outdoor life and is also influenced by the rhythms of New York City where he now lives.

Info :: Tonino Caputo

Observing Caputo's works one senses something like a dim luminosity, a light preceding the already pale one of dawn. They are prompted by, and have as their subject matter, the industrial sections of New York, and the abandoned factories of the section of Rome called Testaccio, where the artist lives and works. He concentrates on geometry, perspective and architecture.
